About Me

I grew up in Melbourne, Australia after having moved to Australia from Egypt when I was 18 months old. I learnt from a young age about how to help and treat people watching my mother who was a social worker and my father who was a general practitioner. Although many would think I learnt the ropes from my father, it was in fact my mother who taught me most about compassion and helping others. She worked as a social worker in the Victorian Migrant Resource Centre working primarily with refugees.

I then attended Melbourne Grammar school ultimately obtaining my undergraduate medical degree from Monash University in 2010 with Honours. During this time I was awarded the Cabrini Hospital Staff Award for Academic Excellence.

Determined to be a surgeon, I commenced my general surgery training at Monash Health where I won the Marshall Prize in surgical training. It was in those early years at Monash where I encountered vascular surgery for the first time. I completed a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology prior to commencing vascular surgery training. I was also awarded the D.R. Leslie Prize for the best research paper by a trainee surgeon from the Royal Australasian college of Surgeons (read more).

My first year of formal vascular surgery training was at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. This was followed by rotations in Box Hill Hospital, Frankston Hospital, Alfred Health and finally Monash Health.

What draws me to vascular surgery is the opportunity to individualise care between open and minimally invasive techniques to achieve the ideal results for my patients. I hold appointments and positions at major Victorian public teaching hospitals, including The Austin, The Alfred and Box Hill Hospital. In my spare time I am an avid golfer and have a current GA handicap of 2.8.

I am a “no gap” provider for medically necessary arterial procedures.
